Earlier this month, I joined a HuffPost Live segment with folks from Presente.org, Drop the I Word campaign, HuffPost staff, and others. It was a very engaging discussion where we briefly touched on the term “economic refugee” as an alternative. The topic was related to Jose Vargas’ recent campaign asking the New York Times and the Associated Press to drop the “illegal” word when reporting on immigration issues.
